The Yor Collective: Past, Present, and Future

Post by Gandalf the Grey on Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:09 am

The Yor Collective is a faction in our world that became known to us after the end of the Martian Empire's famed First Contact war with the Yneme. However, they had been in existence for decades before then, and with much patience, they waited to make their rise to power. When they did, the noble commanders of the PCG confronted the Yor in the Alazhari star system and defeated them; its events are recorded in a story I called "Flight of the Phoenix."

NOTES: THE FIRST YOR WAR (THE PAST)

The following is an excerpt from FotP in which Commander Gandalf and Captain Jared (Jared50000) summarized the first half of this story:

"Yeah, I'd like the same thing. But let's see. I come across obscure ships during a patrol through dangerous space, they attack me, and next thing you know, they have spies aboard our ships."

Jared nodded. "And then," he began, "you and Scare infiltrate their organization with espionage of your own, kill a bigwig and pretend to have captured him, which provokes a massive suicide assault, and here we are, with the threat from their big chief, we now to be Grand Admiral Zsorn, that he is going to hunt us down and it won't be hard." Jared stopped to catch his breath. "And ... yeah. That, in a nutshell, is it."

Next, a spy aboard one of Gandalf's ships betrayed the PCG fleet's location to his Yor superiors. The PCG had assembled in the Alazhari system to strategize their mobilization against the Yor, when the Yor launched all their forces on the PCG armada. During the battle, the Yor sent a technical virus through two of Gandalf's divisions from one of Gandalf's own ships; two of Gandalf's divisions were lost, including his USS Resolute, which has since been rebuilt. The repercussions of the full damage of the Yor's long-established espionage is still felt in the PCG. When the Phoenix (the group of PCG commanders and starships designated to target and take down the IKS Toriantia, the Yor's supercruiser flagship) confronted Leona Xorov, the Commander-in-Chief of the Yor Collective, she replied using these words:

"Who I am or where I come from is not important, but I imagine you will demand it from me anyway. I come from a long line of Russians dating back 600 years. I was the heir to my father's starship empire in a remote star system called Rophodmir. It is in the heart of deep Klingon space; I have a valuable alliance with the Klingons. For over 25 years my family line has commanded the building of a fleet worthy of the pursuit of galactic domination. Sadly, you have mildly crippled it. My spies have been in the PCG for 10 years; the creation of cyborgs and masked humans to serve under me while appearing to you to be an alien species was all my idea. The Klingons know all about these things; you should have a chat with some of them sometimes. I consider myself a genius, though it is unfortunate that Zsorn and I are stuck on our flagship, unable to escape, at the mercy of the Phoenix Command Group. You have unwound my elaborate tapestry of destruction, and have survived my malicious maneuvers, to come around and bind me up and force me to tell you everything you already know. There are no secrets beyond what I have just told you all."

This is how the First Yor War concluded:

All that remained of the Yor fleet was the skeleton of the mighty IKS Torantia, 2 Interdictors, 3 Star Dragons, and 8 Battle Hammers. All these but the Torantia were still warp-capable and were filled with PCG crews and escorted back to Earth, while the Torantia remained in the Alazhari system. Gandalf, Scare, Dino, and Supe were elected to stay behind and guard the Torantia, as she couldn't be moved.

So the Katana, Patriarch, Potomac, and Empress floated around in space encircling the Torantia, in peace and quiet at last. They had unearthed no secrets. They didn't know what XOROV was, or what it meant, or the secrets to the super cloaks and the tractor beams on the Yor supercruisers. The Torantia, the only surviving Yor supercruiser from the battle, had all the technological secrets pummeled out of her by the Phoenix. She was as good as dead, but the PCG wanted to revive her and at least piece together whatever they could of the puzzle.

NOTES: THE YOR REPRISAL (THE PRESENT)

The first image shows a new force of Yor starships that was recently encountered:

The IKS Torantia's remains were abandoned by the PCG after failed attempts to extract useful information from the skeleton of the ship. Since then, the Klingons have restored the Torantia to being space-worthy, calling it the IKS Xorov. It is possible that Leona Xorov survived the Battle at Alazhari, and theory has it that she has been making deals with the Klingons, and that she is the proprietor of the new Yor fleet. That, or the new leader of the Yor is someone still unknown. The Yor and Klingons for a time vigorously protected a wormhole that they used to facilitate these dealings, and threats were made against PCG scouts who tried to approach. That wormhole has since been abandoned. Part of an expansion of this fleet (countless dozens of Yor Raptor Corvettes) invaded the planet of Lambdas V, but the PCG, PPT, APEF, MMF, and Martian Empire fought together to liberate the planet. The following is an excerpt from the report on the Battle of Lambdas V:

At last the allies broke through the Raptors and some were sent to the planet below. Fortunately the Yor were not able to activate the planetary shield fast enough to stop hundreds of gunships and dropships from pouring down. Within another hour, the Raptors were in full retreat, with only 20 of them leaving the planet. Dozens of skeleton ships now orbited the planet, four which still had Yor crews on it. These Yor were surprisingly real aliens. They looked the same as before, but they weren't masked humans or androids. Further investigation is underway. I am pleased to report the Liberation of Lambdas V was a shining success. Over 600 Yor aliens were captured and await a rather harsh debrief. No Raptors survived intact enough to be inspected, though.

These Yor aliens have since been proven to be clones of one another. There are a few classes of these clones, but the Yor, Klingons, or a third party have been busy creating a brand-new humanoid alien race. Are there still masked humans and cyborgs in the Yor ranks? That is also unknown.

At this point, the Yor have no territory, but occasionally make bold attacks, like at Lambdas V. This is the current state of the Yor Collective; little is known, except for the fact that they are make a slow reprisal with the alleged help of the Klingons. They have some new ship classes (Delver's Wing, Diablo, and Raptor) and you can find images and LXF's for all the active Yor models at this link:

I will need help deciding where this whole thing goes. RMM and I concocted some ideas almost a year ago, but I will still need some collaboration with creating a future for the Yor. Flipz, Alien_Ant, Scare, Dino, Awesomedude, Sloop, or whoever else is interested in this, feel free to brainstorm with me. If you'd prefer a REACTIVE approach to the Yor Reprisal as opposed to a PROACTIVE approach, that's fine too. We'll need some of you to fight this war when it comes! XD It's a lot of information, but this is where we stand on the issue of the Yor Collective. The above text is in effect written in stone, but the future has yet to be written!

EDIT: The Brickshelf folder is now public! Smile The Yor models are open for viewing!

I'ld also enjoy helping out with this, both in-story and in-making-story. Very Happy I'll let you know if I think of anything.
